Alice – ALICE

The pioneers of French prog rock's 1970 debut is now available in a premium reissue, pressed on 180-gram vinyl. The original gatefold sleeve and artwork have been meticulously recreated with a sleek matte laminate finish and include a double-sided insert. Restored & remastered from the original tapes, this edition also features a new and insightful essay by author & music journalist Kevin Le GendreA long-overdue rediscovery of a band that helped shape the foundations of French progressive rock!Alice emerged from the free-spirited, boundary-pushing energy of the late '60s, embodying the 'baba cool' hippie movement in France. As one of the earliest French prog rock bands, they blended European classical influences, South American folk, and psychedelic rock into a uniquely rich and adventurous sound. Signed to the unorthodox BYG Records, their 1970 debut remains a hidden gem of the era.Featuring multi-instrumentalists Jean-Pierre Auffredo, Sylvain Duplant, Alain Weiss, Bruno Besse, and Alain Suzan, Alice crafted intricate soundscapes filled with woodwinds, strings, vibraphone, and layers of percussion. Their ability to shift seamlessly between structured compositions and free-spirited improvisation made them a standout act in the French progressive rock scene. Now presented in a premium edition, this audiophile remastered reissue brings fresh clarity to their groundbreaking sound. The LP is pressed on 180-gram vinyl, while the deluxe CD edition is expanded with Alice's rare singles: 'De L'Autre Côté Du Miroir' / 'Viens', 'Le Nouveau Monde' / 'Que Pouvons-Nous Faire Ensemble?', and 'Je Voudrais Habiter Le Soleil' / 'Il Viendra', originally released by BYG in 1970 and 1971
