The Damned – Not The Captain's Birthday Party

Not the Captain's Birthday Party? by The Damned storms back on vinyl-a blistering live recording that captures the anarchic energy of one of punk's pioneering bands at their rawest and loudest. Recorded at London's Roundhouse in 1977, this album is a snapshot of The Damned in full chaotic glory, delivering breakneck performances of early classics with no restraint and no filter. The setlist includes foundational punk anthems like New Rose," the first UK punk single ever released, alongside high-voltage tracks such as "Fan Club," "Feel Alright," and "Born to Kill." From Dave Vanian's theatrical vocals to Captain Sensible's jagged basslines and Rat Scabies' ferocious drumming, the band ignites each song with reckless abandon. "You Take My Money" and "Creep (You Can't Fool Me)" show their tight yet volatile chemistry, while "Problem Child" and "So Messed Up" are pure punk defiance, shouted and slammed into place. This vinyl reissue preserves every ounce of sweat, distortion, and urgency from a band that helped shape the sound and spirit of British punk. Essential for collectors and fans alike, Not the Captain's Birthday Party? is the Damned at their wildest-live, loud, and completely unrepentant."
