Hades – The Downside

Blood Moon Vinyl. The Downside is a prime example of Hades' ability to evolve while staying true to their thrash and power metal roots. Originally released in 2000 by Metal Blade Records, this album marks the band's second comeback, further solidifying their place in metal history. Founded by guitarist Dan Lorenzo in 1978, Hades has consistently pushed the boundaries of heavy music, and The Downside is no exception. This album is notable for featuring guest performances by metal heavyweights, including D.D. Verni of Overkill on bass and Billy Milano of S.O.D./M.O.D., who provides backing vocals on the reprise of Ground Zero N.Y.C."-a track written and recorded before the tragic events of 9/11.Hades masterfully blends power metal with thrash, showcasing classic songwriting skills infused with a raw, aggressive edge. The songs on The Downside are diverse yet cohesive, ranging from the Fates Warning-inspired "Hail to the Thief" to the ultra-heavy metal intensity of "Pay the Price." The band remains focused on crafting solid heavy metal tracks, avoiding the trends of the time and delivering music that is both timeless and impactful. This Brutal Planet Records reissue marks the first time The Downside is available on vinyl, presented in a striking Blood Moon color that perfectly captures the album's intense and brooding atmosphere. Limited to just 300 copies, the release includes a 12x12 full-color lyrics insert with photos, meticulously mastered for vinyl by Rob Colwell. For fans of Nevermore, Watchtower, Deliverance, Overkill, Sacred Reich, and Badlands, The Downside is an essential addition to any metal collection-a powerful and varied album that showcases Hades at their finest.""
