Iona – Beyond These Shores

Containing many of Iona's most loved songs, 'Shores' has been newly remastered for it's first-ever vinyl release and includes 3 bonus tracks and stunning new artwork in a 2-disk gatefold sleeve format. There is evidence to suggest that almost a thousand years before Columbus' discovery of America, the mighty Atlantic sea may have been crossed by monks sailing from Ireland in boats constructed of leather and wood. The story of the voyage (Navigatio) of Saint Brendan remains one of the most intriguing in Celtic literature. It stands as a unique record of a Christian sea-going culture whose unshakable trust in God's Divine Providence led them to undertake the most hazardous journeys of faith. Several tracks on this album are inspired by Brendan's Voyage.Their music seems to draw from the collective memories of an entire race of people - 'Beyond These Shores' is all that and more. It is a modern day masterpiece.Billboard (USA), February 1994If you like seriously melodic, emotional, powerful music then you must have this album... simply stunningWondrous Stories, January 1994Very much for lovers of good high quality music that doesn't pander to fashionFeedback Magazine, March 1994A rock band full of imagination... a band which is continuing to grow day by day.Marquee Magazine (Japan), September 1994
