Kimura Keiko – Style (Clear Deep Blue Vinyl)

Originally released in 1988, Style marked the stunning debut of Keiko Kimura, a refined new voice emerging from Japan's late-'80s urban pop scene, and now returns on striking Clear Deep Blue vinyl with all the elegance and atmosphere that made it a cult favorite among City Pop collectors. Produced by Shigeru Suzuki with lyrics by Takashi Matsumoto, the album captures the sophisticated pulse of bubble-era city nights through sleek arrangements, polished studio musicianship, and Kimura's fresh, emotionally nuanced vocals. From the cool, urbane glide of Don't Call Me to the breezy bossa-nova shimmer of Invite Me to the Spring, Style balances metropolitan Polish with warmth and melodic intimacy, it's crisp yet organic production blending jazz textures, light Latin rhythms, and late-'80s pop sheen into a sound that remains remarkably modern. A true urban City Pop gem, Style sounds as vibrant today as it did on it's original release, an essential addition for collectors and fans of Japan's golden era of sophisticated pop.
