Kotoa – Earthwise, Out of the Dark EP's

Kotoa are a 5 piece band from Loughborough Junction, South East London, made up of drummer Laurie Campling, bassist Frank Black, keyboard player Sam Hillier, guitarist and vocalist Memphis Koloi, & saxophonist and vocalist Maia Avery. Having signed toWah Wah 45s last year, Kotoa bring a refreshing sound, blending political rhetoric, soulful melodies, & heavy bass lines. Deeply influenced by dub, trip hop & the recent rise of African inspired jazz, Kotoa are a rising force in Brixton's historic music scene. Since their signing, this exciting young outfit have released two digital EPs, produced by esteemed producer, musician, and engineer Benedic Lamdin (Nostalgia 77) entitled Earthwise and Out of the Dark. The EPs received much critical acclaim and the support of luminaries and taste-makers such as Gilles Peterson, Colleen Cosmo Murphy, Haseeb Iqbal, and Robbie Vincent. Widespread love from Jazz FM, BBC 6 Music, Worldwide FM, and Apple Music has seen their audience grow, backed by their energetic and enchanting live shows which culminated in them opening the main stage of We Out Here Festival this summer. Following much public demand, both Kotoa EPs are at last available together on gorgeous black vinyl, complete with bespoke artwork from our award winning in-house designer Animisiewasz. Having both EPs on one slab of wax gives a flavor of what a Kotoa album might sound like, something you won't have to wait too long for, with plans to release their hugely anticipated full debut in 2027. We cannot wait!
