Marillion – Anoraknophobia

Originally released in 2001, 'Anoraknophobia' celebrates it's 25th anniversary in 2026. The album remains a landmark in Marillion's remarkable evolution, reflecting a band unafraid to challenge expectations & embrace new possibilities both musically & beyond. Formed in 1979, Marillion have sold over 15 million albums worldwide & are rightly regarded as legends of progressive rock. Yet throughout their career, the band have continued to evolve, consistently exploring new musical territory while embracing innovative ways of connecting with their audience. Their pioneering relationship with their fans has become an integral part of the Marillion story, creating an incredibly loyal community around the world. 'Anoraknophobia' holds a particularly significant place in that story. Widely recognised as one of the music industry's earliest crowdfunded albums, it was financed entirely by Marillion's fans, giving the band the freedom to record without the pressures of a traditional record company. The result was one of the band's most adventurous & absorbing albums. Moving beyond their neo-progressive rock roots, 'Anoraknophobia' incorporated elements of rap, groove, trip hop, blues, jazz & dub, creating a fresh & contemporary sound that demonstrated once again that Marillion were unwilling to stand still. Twenty-five years on, 'Anoraknophobia' remains a bold statement of artistic independence - an album made possible by the unique relationship between Marillion & their fans, & a pivotal chapter in the band's continuing story. This 25th anniversary edition is presented as a 2LP split colour yellow and magenta vinyl
