Oxis – Oxis 8

Marine electronica's pioneering siren Oxis releases her new album Oxis 8 via Boom Records. Across eight engrossing tracks, Oxis introduces listeners to an ever-growing school of fish friends in the form of previously shared singles Fingerling, Guili, Piranha, and Fry, which have received praise from the likes of Pigeons & Planes, Stereogum and more. Continued with Oxis 8, this series of eponymous Oxis projects represents a brave endeavour to capture coming-of-age feelings at their most heightened, like lightning in a bottle. That duality of universal emotions, like a shot of adrenaline or salt in a wound, finds it's way into Oxis' music without a flinch. Her music interrogates that spectrum of human experience with a grounded realism beyond her years: The pain and beauty of it all is that nothing is constant, and when something feels sensitive and powerful you have to bite at it quickly, or else it disappears, she says of the inspiration behind Oxis 8 and the ethos behind her music as a whole. To bubble up excitement around the new album last year, Oxis brought stripped-down, intimate reimaginations of her tracks Piranha and Fry to a live session at The FADER's HQ in New York City.
