Maddy Prior & June Tabor – Silly Sisters (Chrysalis Red Series)

June Tabor and Maddy Prior's 1976 album Silly Sisters is a seminal collaboration in British folk, uniting two of the genre's most iconic voices-Prior, known for her work with Steeleye Span, and Tabor, renowned for her stark, emotive solo interpretations. The album weaves together traditional British and Celtic ballads (such as Geordie" and "The Grey Funnel Line") with rare gems like "The Seven Joys of Mary," showcasing striking vocal interplay and unadorned yet powerful arrangements. Often compared to the harmonies of The Watersons or the narrative depth of Shirley Collins, Silly Sisters remains a touchstone for lovers of traditional song and vocal duet performance. The newly remastered version of Silly Sisters offers a fresh opportunity for new audiences to experience this work. The package comes with new reflections from Maddy Prior and June Tabor. Chrysalis Red Series is a new series offering a deep dive into the forgotten corners of our catalogue. Unearthing overlooked masterpieces, cult classics, and genre-defying oddities that deserve a reappraisal or a proper introduction.Silly Sisters [Chrysalis Red Series]: Available on vinyl for the first time since the original release.
